May 24, 2025Amsterdam-based duo Illnoledge — brothers Steve and Mill Hartley — return with “OBIA,” a potent new single that channels their Afro-diasporic roots into a vibrant, genre-blending sound. Raised in a family of West Indian and Surinamese heritage, the brothers have cultivated their own path — spiritually, artistically, and sonically — a path they call Illnoledge: Intuitive, Limitless, Liberal-minded, New-fangled, Original, Luminous, Empowering, Dedicated, Genuine Elevators.
“OBIA” pulls from a deep well of inspiration — fusing Latin jazz, afrobeat, reggae, soul, and funk — all delivered with the clarity of purpose and tight musicianship that has made them one of Amsterdam’s most electrifying live acts. With past performances at Super Sonic Jazz, Le Guess Who, Paradiso, and Eye Filmmuseum, and support from BBC Radio 6, NTS, and NPO Radio 2 Soul & Jazz, Illnoledge is steadily building a movement rooted in spirit and sound.
