His musical foundation is equally diverse: he studied choir, clarinet, and alto saxophone at Montreal’s FACE School, later teaching himself guitar and piano before discovering beat-making. That broad musical vocabulary has become central to KOLA’s production style, where warm grooves and melodic ideas meet a distinctly modern sensibility.
Yzabo brings another dimension to the collaboration. The Filipino-Canadian singer, songwriter, and producer has built her sound around pop, alternative R&B, jazz, and neo-soul, using her emotionally driven songwriting to explore identity, healing, and self-acceptance. Her debut EP Bad Habit further established that intimate, introspective approach, with KOLA contributing production to several of its tracks.
“Let It Die” continues a creative relationship that has already produced records including “WYWF” and “I Don’t Wanna Fall in Love.” This time, the pair lean into a sleek, groove-led sound that brings KOLA’s production instincts together with Yzabo’s expressive vocals. The result feels polished without losing the warmth and emotional honesty that have become central to their work.
“Let It Die” is a smooth, soulful addition to both artists’ catalogues—and another reason to keep an eye on what KOLA and Yzabo create together.
