May 19, 2025Oakland’s introspective rapper-producer Ovrkast. has teamed up with rising Tennessee-born artist Samara Cyn for their first collaboration, “Small Talk.” This jazz-infused hip-hop track features Ovrkast.’s signature lo-fi production and contemplative lyricism, complemented by Cyn’s sharp delivery and melodic hooks.
Ovrkast., known for his work with artists like Earl Sweatshirt and MAVI, draws inspiration from producers such as Knxwledge, Madlib, and J Dilla. His music often explores themes of anxiety and self-reflection, set against a backdrop of soulful beats.
Samara Cyn, blends hip-hop with neo-soul influences, citing artists like Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu as inspirations. Her debut EP, The Drive Home (2024), showcased her unique style and lyrical depth, earning her recognition as a promising new voice in the genre.
“Small Talk” is set to appear on Ovrkast.’s upcoming sophomore album, WHILE THE IRON IS HOT, scheduled for release on May 30, 2025.
